Collections, favorites and pins
None of this moves or copies a file. A book can be in as many collections as you like, and removing it from one only takes it out of the group.
Favorites
Mark a book with a heart: hover over its cover and click the heart, choose Add to favorites on its right-click menu, or click the heart in its details or in the reader's toolbar. Favorites, pinned in the sidebar from the start, shows them all, and favorite:yes finds them in a search. For an image in a pack, the heart goes on the pack.
Collections
A collection gathers books around a campaign, a setting or an idea, such as "Winter campaign" or "Coastal towns".
- Make one: New collection on the Collections page. Give it a name and, if you like, a description.
- Add books: Add to collection on a book's right-click menu or in its details. To add many at once, tick them in the Library's Select mode and click Add to collection.
- Open one: click its card. You see its books in the Library, ready to search and filter, with any collections inside it as cards above them.
- Collections inside collections: New collection inside a collection makes one there, and Move to… moves a collection inside another, or back to the top. A book in an inner collection counts as in the outer one too; Only books added here hides those.
- Tidy up: Rename, Move to… and Delete are at the top of a collection's page. Deleting a collection never removes its books from your library. Remove from collection (in Select mode) takes books out.
Collections, the collections inside each one, and the Add to collection menu are in name order. Every change shows Undo for a moment.
Collections from folders
If you already keep books together in folders, Needs review offers to make those folders collections: "Make a collection “Ashen Vale” from these 12 books?" for each folder with three or more books directly in it.
- Accept makes the collection, named after the folder, with its books. Books that land in the folder later join it by themselves, until you add or remove a book by hand; after that it's an ordinary collection. Undo takes it away again.
- A folder inside another that you made a collection from becomes a collection inside that one.
- Not now puts the card away until Needs review makes its list again (when you click Show the new list, or the next time you start Bibliotaph). Never means that folder isn't asked about again.
- Folders named only after what the books are, such as "D&D 5e", "Pathfinder" or "Adventures", aren't offered: those are already filters. Neither is a folder whose books are all in one collection already.
- Bibliotaph remembers your answers by the folder's place inside your library folder, so they still hold when a drive letter changes. The collections travel to your other PCs with library sync like any other; whether one follows its folder is kept on each PC.
Books for your collections
Needs review also looks for books that belong in a collection you have: "Add these 4 books to “Ashen Vale”?". It looks at what most of the collection's books share, meaning at least three of them and at least 60% of the books you added to it, and suggests the books outside it that share it too:
- the same series, or
- the same setting and game system together.
Accept adds them, with Undo; it doesn't stop a collection made from a folder following that folder. Not now puts the card away until Needs review makes its list again. Never means those books aren't suggested for that collection again, though a book that fits later still can be. Never is kept on each PC.
Pins
Pin anything you go back to often, and it shows in the sidebar's Pinned group and on Home. You can pin a book, Favorites, a collection, a binder or a saved search: choose Pin on a book's menu, or click the pin button in its details or in the reader, or on the page of a collection, binder, saved search or Favorites.
Drag a pin up or down the sidebar to reorder it, or select it and press Alt+Up or Alt+Down. Right-click a pin for Move up, Move down and Unpin, and for a saved search, Rename… and Delete.
Clicking a pinned book opens it where you left it. A book you own online opens in the online reader; see Online libraries.
Saved searches
A saved search keeps a search with its filters and order, and runs it again each time, so new books show up in it. See Saved searches.
Export a list
In Select mode, Export these saves the ticked books as a CSV file for a spreadsheet. Settings > Backup can export the whole library the same way; see OneDrive, drives and other PCs.
